Game & Practice Cancelation Policy
League practices are not held when Fairfax County schools are closed during the day due to inclement weather, holidays and elections. Teacher workdays are not holidays.
If a school is closed on Friday, weekend schedules are not necessarily canceled for VYI. If inclement weather closes schools on a Saturday, that does not mean gyms will be closed on Sunday as well. FCPS announces closures for each individual day unless otherwise stated by them.
Parents should tune into the County information channel on cable TV, or consult the WEB page below to determine if schools have reopened following a day of inclement weather, indicating games or practices will be held. Parents may also call the Fairfax County Recreation Department Hot Line at 703-324-5264 for news on school closings, or click on the following link.
