Parent & Spectator Harassment and Conduct Policy
Parent & Spectator Harassment and Conduct Policy
Approved by the VYI board 10/25
Purpose
Our youth sports program is built on volunteer service, teamwork, and respect. To protect players, volunteers, and the organization from disruptive or harassing conduct, all parents/guardians and spectators must abide by this policy as a condition of their child’s participation.
Prohibited Conduct
· Harassing or Abusive Communications:
Send repeated, hostile, or harassing emails, texts, or messages to coaches, volunteers, board members, paid employees or other families. Use communication channels to intimidate, belittle, or threaten others.
· Defamation and Public Disparagement:
Post negative reviews, comments, or social-media content that publicly names or disparages league volunteers, coaches, paid employees and board members. Spread false or misleading information that undermines the league’s operations.
· Organizing Disruptions:
Email, message, or otherwise solicit other parents to join a campaign against coaches, volunteers, or league decisions. Attempt to interfere with team or league operations through coordinated complaints or actions.
· Sideline / Event Misconduct:
Verbally abuse, harass, or intimidate coaches, officials, players, or other spectators. Engage in taunting, foul language, or hostile gestures.
· Retaliation:
Retaliate against anyone who makes or supports a complaint under this policy.

· Sanctions: Consequences may include removal from practices/games, suspension for part or all of the season, or permanent ban from league activities.
· Online Violations: Harassing or defamatory online conduct may be referred to legal counsel or law enforcement if necessary.
